For anyone tired of just reading about cats, cats, cats, a pop-up cafe is coming to New York which will be overrun with adoptable felines for you to hang out with and maybe even take home. All free of charge thanks to Big Pet Chow megacorp, Purina One.
Only set to be open for a single weekend from this Thursday, April 24th to Sunday, April 27th the cafe is set to serve coffee and snacks free of charge, assumedly to promote cat adoption (as well as healthy, well-balanced Purina One pet products.) The animals at the cafe will be provided by Long Island's North Shore Animal League, who will also be facilitation the adoption of the cute little beasts. The food and drinks themselves are even rumored to by being provided by popular Brooklyn roaster, Cafe Grumpy, adding an air of cool to the whole affair.
There are not many details regarding the hygienic ramifications of flooding a coffee shop with animals, but visitors are probably at greater risk of falling in love with a kitten than contracting an animal-borne disease. The cafe will be opened at 164 Bowery from 10 AM on Thursday to 7 PM on Sunday. [Gothamist]
